Melissa de Jongh Senior Physiotherapist (BHSc, PGDip)
I am a passionate Physio with 17 experience, predominantly in private practice. I have a Bachelor of Health Science, Physiotherapy (2005) and Post-Graduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Western Acupuncture. I have spent the majority of my career in private practice in both NZ and Australia. I also worked for a period at Thames hospital in the outpatient setting treating a wide range of post-surgical, acute and chronic injuries.
Katie and I studied our undergraduate degrees alongside eachother and have similar values and treatment approach. We work together to create a really supportive environment to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
I have completed a range of post-grad courses in injury management, dry needling, women's health, acupuncture, sports injury and health of the older adult and am always on the hunt for new learning opportunities. I am trained in clinical Pilates of which I am a huge advocate of as it helped me to manage my own sporting injuries as well as managing the physical changes to my body during pregnancy and in the post natal period after having my babies. My husband Simon and I have two young children, Peyton and Aidan and they help us to keep life in perspective! Like you, we understand the incredibly challenging balance between family, work and maintaining our own wellbeing.
My fascination with the human body and how it works is what compelled me to pursue a career as a Physio. I have experience treating a wide variety of conditions, from sports injuries to back and neck injuries, and post-surgical rehab. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy (2005), and a post- graduate certificate (PG Cert) in Western Acupuncture. I studied my undergraduate degree alongside Melissa and we work alongside eachother to create a great, supportive practice to gain the best possible outcomes for our patients. With 4 children of my own, I really understand the strain on the body being a mum, as am keen to use my experience and knowledge to help other parents adjust and prepare their bodies to fulfill their lifestyles. In my spare time I love spending time with my family outdoors- walking, cycling, wake boarding and enjoying the beach.
